Spammers ruin my Day on Baby Club

Posted by Baby Club, 02 February 2011 · 1219 views

Well we suffered a fairly nasty spam attack today when a company performing some tweaks to the site for us accidentally granted permission for non registered members and spammers to post in the forum.

One of them managed to post some obscene material during the thirty minute window in which the forums were left open. Luckily, our many forum friends rushed to alert me and we removed the obscene post within minutes - but not before the site had sent out an email alert to all members containing the spam material :o.

We are so sorry that this happened, but I am sure that most of you will understand that we were victims as much, if not more than anyone else in this. I spent the evening posting up explanations on Facebook, the Forums and Twitter.

But what really upset me was a really snotty email from a "Commercial" Forum member who only used the forums for advertising her own Baby Company in Ireland. As you know, I run the forums as a non commercial enterprise and as a fun project.

Imagine my feelings when this "Lady" sends me a snotty email demanding that I send her a personal apology as an offended  "Customer of Baby Club".

Needless to say, we will no longer be bothered with commercial postings promoting her own company in the Baby Forums or with her ads in our free baby Classifieds!

I am now going to open a bottle of wine :drinks:.

I'll be ok again in the morning.... Honestly I will !:)

Enjoy the wine and for every one of her there is 10 like me happy
Thanks for a great service
