Another good day today with a postive and friendly response from Mothercare.

I also had an interesting and very helpful telephone chat with a leading Irish Cloth Nappy supplier who suggested an Eco Baby Forums and also a dedicated Irish Cloth Nappy sub forum !

Ask and you shall receive. :)

No matter how much market research you do, there is always more to learn !

Its a pity to see businesses taking advantage of new forums when they join, make a few posts advertising themselves and never come back :(

Hi Clare,
I'm sorry you feel that way. I didn't get a notification that a reply had been made. That is us by the way.

Hi Clare,

I know where you are coming from :) , but I am happy to confirm that Monica and the other few "Commercial" suppliers who have registered and shown interest in Baby Club in recent days are all here with my blessing and thanks.

The hardest part of setting up Irish Baby Forums such as this is getting those first few members to register and post !

Suppliers such as Monica can be of great help to us especially if they can kick start discussion by posting informative or challenging articles about their products and industry. B)

It will take us a few weeks to get going so in the meantime, do post questions and suggestions for others to reply to!

Hi Admin, is there anyway of getting automatic notifications of replies to the forums that I'm subscribed to? I got the notification about Clare's reply a few minutes before I actually replied to her, i.e got the notification followed the link and replied immediately. There seems to have been somewhat of a delay between her post and me getting the notice that she had done so.
At the moment they don't seem to have a pattern.
Monica.

Hi Monica,

To get immediate notification of new posts, select Watch Topic and then select "Immediate Notification". The default setting is Delayed Notification.

Let me know if you still have probs. :)

Hi Monica,

All Events have to be approved before they go live (Anti Spam measure!)

Your event is live now and is also listed on our Facebook page. What time is it at?

This may seem like an awful question, but how does one manage washing or laundering cloth nappies?

I can't imagine placing soiled nappies in my washing machine. I'm guessing that you scrape of the worst into the loo and fire them in a bucket of Milton solution before they reach the washing machine?

How many cloth nappies do you need to have ready to go at a time?

Sorry for the earlier comment ! ;)

Hi Clare,
You use liners that catch the solids which gets disposed either into the bin or flush it down the toilet. You don't soak the nappies, you leave them in a dry bucket and when you have enough for a wash you put them into the washing machine.
There are two ways of washing: with and without sanitizer. With sanitizer (we recommend Napisan) you can wash at 30 or 40 degrees - it kills all the bacteria in the washing machine as well as the nappies. Without sanitizer you wash at 60 degrees, which also kills all the bacteria in the washing machine and in the nappies. So either way your washing machine gets sanitized.
We recommend 20 nappies in minimum if you are going to be using them most of the time. You use 10 nappies and wash them, while you have 10 ready for use. The more nappies you have the less washing you need to do. With 20 nappies you would be washing every 2 days.
In our complete set you get mesh bags (2), you can fill each bag with 5 nappies (as they are used, you put them straight into the mesh bag in the bucket). When ready to wash you simply grab the mesh bag and throw it into the wash without having to touch the nappies. So there is minimum contact with them.
I recommend that you go to our website. There are videos, there are leaflets that you can download, etc.
If you need further information please don't hesitate to ask.
Regards,
Monica.

Hi

I am the Dublin Agent for Little Comfort and just wanted to say hi and that I am holding nappicinos over the summer or if anyone wants to meet up just send me a message.

The next nappicino is in Dun Laoghaire in Insomia (at Meadows and Byrnes) at 11.30 a.m.

Come along for an informal chat and ask any nappy questions you may have, and see and feel the nappies.

I'll have my 2 dds with me and my Little Comfort Nappy Bucket!
thanks

Sarah
