I have lots of offers of unwanted baby equipment from friends, but I kind of like to get all new gear. Am I mad?

I didn't get any hand me downs first time round, mainly because I didn't have anyone that could give them to me but I wouldn't have taken them anyway as I wanted everything new and so I could choose myself the brands etc that I wanted.

We got rid of all our old equipment after number was finished with them because we didn't intend on having any more kids. Then broodiness took hold and we we had number 3 and I happily took any hand me down I could get LOL! Didn't see the point in buying everything new that was DEFINITELY only going to be used on only one baby. :D

I think its normal to want to go shopping for the baby when you are pregnant, It helps you conect to the face that a soon enough there will be a little baby there in your life.

My personal opinion is that new stuff matters more to the new mum than to the new baby. :P Have decided to be practical and take any help we can get as long as:

  • its in good condition
  • I truly believe I will use it and not store it in the attic
  • it comes with no strings attached

Financial pressure on top of new baby might be a bit too much to handle first time around. I anticipate a rollercoaster ride with my soon-to-be-arriving little one myself. Have fun and enjoy the ride!
